Nuns arriving from Tibet  
Created need for accommodation.

Land offered by H.E Luding Khen Chenpo
The site is in Dekyi Tibetan Community, about 5 minutes' drive from Sakya Centre, Rajpur.
 1998
Nunnery officially established by His Holiness 
Dormitory completed - About 170 nuns (ages 7 to 70) were ccommodated. 
 
 
 March 2005
Ground Breaking for  Temple by H.E. Ratna Rinpoche and H.E. Jnana Vajra Rinpoche 
The Project was expanded
to include a new wing for the Nuns' dormitory.
 
 29 March 2009
Soft Opening of Temple by His Holiness
Sakya Trizin 
Followed by teachings.
 
 

Sakya Rinchen Choling Nunnery -

Officially established as a non-profit community in 1998 by His Holiness Sakya Trizin for the sake of Sakya Tibetan nuns outside Tibet, it is home to about 250 Sakya nuns.
